Good afternoon, this is Pat Hopkins, MSAD 11 Superintendent of Schools. I want to provide you with an update regarding the water main break that occurred at Gardiner Area High School on Wednesday, February 12. The break was in an underground pipe near the loading dock at the back of the school. While repairs have been completed, a ‘boil water’ advisory remains in place until water testing confirms it is safe for consumption. Test results are expected by mid-day tomorrow.
Since tomorrow is an Early Release Day, we will resume school for high school students with some necessary precautions:
No drinking from faucets or water fountains – Water fountains will be turned off, and signs will be placed in bathrooms as reminders.
Students and staff are encouraged to bring their own water bottles to school. For those unable to do so, drinking water will be available.
Lunch will still be provided.
Our grab-and-go meal option does not require water for preparation, and all vegetables have already been washed and are safe to eat. Utensils, dishes, and cookware will be sanitized using a high-temperature dishwasher (180°F).
